The Nets enter an offseason with the all-important question of whether Deron Williams will re-sign with the franchise as a free agent.

Williams will make his decision before late July when the Olympics' activities begin.

"I don't want to play in the Olympics without a contract," said Williams.

Williams is also expected to be pursued by the Mavericks. Williams was coy when asked about their potential interest this summer.

"I don't know why everybody just throws Dallas out there like they've heard something from me," he said. "I don't know."

Williams remains interested in making the move with the Nets to Brooklyn.

"Yeah, definitely, it would be great to be a part of that first game, that first team there," Williams said, "kind of start our own legacy in Brooklyn. So that's definitely enticing. That's definitely something I think about on a regular basis."

I really wonder who is going to seriously pursue Deron. The Mavericks and Nets are definite.

Deron Williams is leaning toward re-signing with the Nets this offseason, according to a Tweet from Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

Williams is also widely expected to consider signing with the Mavericks, though other teams like the Lakers could become involved in sign-and-trade scenarios.
who the fuck would the lakers s&t? they wont deal bynum after this season and pau wont be enough.

If the Nets bring back him and G-Force and get a healthy Brook Lopez next season, that is a solid playoff contender.

Wallace opted out and is now a free agent. Quite doubtful that he re-signs

Him opting out isn't much of an indication, players want long-term contracts and dislike 1 year deals.

I can see Deron picking the Mavericks over the Nets. With the Mavericks at least you know that other valuable free agents will join him in Dallas. People were laughing at me saying that the Mavericks were a viable option, but they trully are. Think of this perspective:

Would Deron rather play in the East or the West?

I think it would be easier for Deron to reach the finals in the West than in the East.

Of course you could, you're a Mavs fan.

Still don't see the appeal of going to the Mavs. Sure, you're from that area, but your championship window is incredibly small with that aging roster. At least Brooklyn has young pieces that they can trade to bring someone else in.

thats the same reason i cant see him going to dallas and with the other teams not having enough money i could see him staying in brooklyn too but they need to really get a real desire to build a good team and not hope for stars to go there.

Being able to start a legacy in Brooklyn is enticing, but that organization...
