The Nuggets Thursday passed on making a big splash at the NBA trading deadline, instead sending reserve guard Von Wafer to Portland for rookie point guard Taurean Green.
Green, 6-foot, 183 pounds, helped lead Florida to NCAA championships the past two years. In Portland, he's played in eight games this season, averaging 5.5 minutes. He saw action in four games for the Idaho Stampede of the D-League, averaging 19.3 ppg, 9.8 apg and 5.3 rpg.
The rookie point guard was the 52nd overall pick of the 2007 NBA Draft after his junior season at Florida.
Wafer appeared in 21 games for the Nuggets this season, averaging 1.3 ppg.
The trading deadline was at 1 p.m. Thursday.
The Nuggets were not willing to part with forward Linas Kleiza in a trade for veteran Ron Artest of Sacramento.
