The Clippers have been speaking with Baron Davis for much of Tuesday afternoon hoping to lock up the free-agent point guard to a multiyear deal, according to a team source.

Davis chose free agency and the Clippers, who would have about $10 million in salary space if they renounce their rights to free-agent Corey Maggette, began targeting Davis today, according to the team source.

The team could also find more cap space if they resign Elton Brand to a lesser annual price than the $16.4 million he was owed next season before he also opted for free agency Monday.

A deal could be reached by Wednesday, according to the source.
Brand + Davis = nice combo

Damn, who called it?
Not official yet and it still has a chance of not happeningm, but a trio of Brand, Davis, and Kaman? Yikes.

On ESPN they were making fun of the Clippers. They were like the Big 3 would be Kaman, Brand, and Davis. And they were like nah that's more of a 2 1/2, cause they think Kaman isn't good enough.

Haha it was funny.

Kaman would put up good numbers with them. 16 and 9 imo.

No it's not.

Elton is injury prone and Davis and Kaman, couldn't led the team to the top.

Kaman is one of the better center's in the league. He's a monster rebounder and can score when called upon. He should flourish should Brand and Davis end up in LA.

C. Kaman/ E. Brand/ A. Thorton / E. Gordon / B. Davis

It's the ideal situation for the rook Gordon too, he doesn't have to worry about wasting much time at pg. He just gets to do what he does: Score and play some physical D'.

If it all goes through, the Clips could make a nice run. Too bad the Lakers would still be the kings of LA though weather all of this comes through or not ;)

Looks good, but Gordon and Thornton are young. Plus their in the West.

They also have a solid bench too, just no bigs. Maybe if Jordan turns into a good player we will see.

Brand is one of the more durable guys in the league. He's 100% now, last season was really the only season where he has faced a major injury. Don't count him out yet, a lot of people were saying the same thing about Stoudemire and he bounced back big.

Ok, but I don't think he'll be the same player as he was before the injury.

They wouldn't have a good enough team to come out the West next year anyway.

Clippers will be solid if they could stay healthy
but i have questions about Davis' health. he played all 82 games last season, but can he do it again?
Kaman was hurt last season. Brand was hurt. Thomas missed time. Mobley missed time.

injury prone team

Why not? He came back for the last 8 games to show that he could still play and to shake off some rust and he managed to put up 17 and 8. With a whole summer and training camp to work out etc. He should get back to form pretty quickly.
