David West will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but he has been adamant that he wants to return to the Indiana Pacers.

After the Pacers' season-ending loss in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals, West reiterated his plans.

"This is my group," West said. "These are my guys. I can't see myself going anywhere else."

West averaged 17.1 points and 7.7 rebounds this season.

We've heard this before, though. Many players have said exactly this and then followed the trail of dollar bills somewhere else. I hope he stays.

If West wants to stay in Indy, he needs to accept a reasonable contract. It's as simple as that. At the same time, he won't be nearly as expensive as Josh Smith, so maybe they should just sign him instead of losing such a valuable locker room player.
