Curious to get the SI consensus on this news. I know Jerry Jones is comfortable with Wade, players seem to like playing for him...but just how much are both of those statements accurate? If Jerry Jones was that happy or comfortable with Wade, you would think he'd pay out more than 1-year with a team option for a 2nd. Dave Campo and Chan Gailey were given longer deals than that. I also think that players like playing for Wade because he is so laid back. Think about it...a lot of these guys are still around from the Parcells regime.
I think Wade's a great coach but I just can't see him leading the Cowboys to the Super Bowl. The team leaped some major hurdles late into the season and then the big Wildcard win but the epic loss to the Vikings proved what I was saying for 3 weeks....Dallas was seriously being over-hyped because they actually won games in the month of December. Yes, the team was playing some great football, amazing pass rush, but was Dallas' big, back-to-back wins over Philly in large part due to the Cowboys getting hot...or the Eagles falling apart? I tend to believe both but I think Philadelphia's banged up defense just couldn't take anymore and the loss at Center was costly to that offensive line.
I think Wade Phillips can thank the media for making Dallas out to be way better than they actually were heading into the post-season and at the same time, what does Jason Garrett think of all this?
