Dr. Brandon Marshall was right (as he modestly trumpeted on Wednesday): Jay Cutler is indeed back from the torn groin muscle he suffered against the Washington Redskins.
After going through a hurry up protocol of medical treatment with Bears training staff and doctors, Cutler was cleared Thursday morning to practice in full. He did in a shortened practice through mid-day and coach Marc Trestman confirmed that Cutler will start next Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
“There's nothing that he can't do physically to play the position," Trestman said.
The original prognosis was for Cutler to sit for four weeks, after which he would be evaluated. Because of doctors’ clearance, Trestman said there was no thought of holding Cutler out for another week to heal.
And ostensibly there will be nothing deleted from the playbook: “If he’s cleared to go,” said offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer, “we’re going to do everything.”
