There has been plenty of speculation that Jay-Z’s new sports management firm resulted in Giants receiver Victor Cruz hiring CAA to negotiate his next contract with the Giants, or whoever he may sign with.

The speculation is accurate.  Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Cruz hired CAA in anticipation of CAA and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation partnering in the overall representation and management of Cruz’s career.

Officially, Roc Nation’s first client is Yankees’ second baseman Robinson Cano.  It’s apparently only a matter of time before Cruz joins the client list.

I don't know what to think of this. I guess the one positive is Jay-Z has a good connection with New York and is from the area, so he could probably influence Cruz to stay.

Must say a lot for Roc Nation if people are leaving these high-profile agents and companies. Even though it's a small amount of athletes, it's stil la big start.

Yeah, big start. I haven't really paid attention to Cruz and the negotiations because I never really cared until something went down.

Hope he signs for a reasonable contract.

Jay-Z is the man

Like, he owned 1/15th of a percent (0.0000067%) of the New Jersey Nets. And yet, he had enough influence to move the team to Brooklyn, and have the logos and jerseys and everything else that is the Brooklyn Nets all done by his crew of designers and such.

If you want to go play in New York (aka Robinson Cano), go hire Jay-Z as an agent. It'll be worth it
