From NFL.com
The New York Jets have reached an agreement in principle with the San Diego Chargers to acquire cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported the trade Thursday night, and the Jets later confirmed the deal to The Associated Press but didn't release specifics. According to La Canfora, the Chargers will receive at least a third-round selection in 2011, and it could become a second-round pick, depending on Cromartie's performance.

Cromartie was an All-Pro in 2007 and will team with Darrelle Revis in the Jets' secondary, making them possibly the best cornerback tandem in the NFL. Cromartie replaces Lito Sheppard, who was released earlier in the day after one disappointing season.

Despite 15 interceptions in four seasons, the Chargers were dissatisfied with Cromartie's performance late last season and in the playoffs. Chargers general manager A.J. Smith made it clear he would try to trade Cromartie.
Could turn out very good for the Jets. Cromartie's play has dropped off, but if he turns it on it could be great for the Jets, since they would only have had to of given up a second.

Word to what cheato said. A lot of people asked why Cro' was even thought of being traded after that one great year, but even during that great year he got lost in coverage a lot. He gets caught sleeping all the time. He's one of those guys that has all the tools, but rarely ever plays hard. When he does, he looks amazing, but that's only about 30-40% of the time.

This trade will excite Jets fans, and we'll hear about how they're a lock for the super bowl, but like most trades like this, where you get someone who has been playing below potential and has only had one great year, it wont work out.

Wow, I didn't even know this about Cro'.

The Jets acquired Antonio Cromartie because he could become the perfect complement to Darrelle Revis, apparently not because of his character.

Brent Schrotenboer of The Union-Tribune in San Diego:

Cornerback Antonio Cromartie — traded by the Chargers last night to the Jets — failed to appear in court twice for different traffic tickets and hasn’t paid $799 in traffic-related fines, causing the Department of Motor Vehicles to withhold his driver’s license application.

He is scheduled to appear in San Diego Superior Court later this month for a judgment debtor’s exam related to child support he owes one of the mothers of his children.

Last month, the Union-Tribune reported Cromartie was past due on about $25,000 in child support, according to court records and a local attorney.

Cromartie has at least seven children with six different women in five states. All children are under 6.

Kevin Acee of The Union-Tribune said the Chargers had been shopping Cromartie for a year. His antics had irritated teammates and coaches. A teammate, Quentin Jammer, said some of Cromartie’s misbehavior might have been calculated to force a trade. And that’s coming from someone who is described as Cromartie’s biggest supporter on the team.
Acee:

Thus ends a relationship that began so grandly but fizzled and threatened to become a serious distraction had it gone on much longer.

Wow Cromatie really needs to get his life together, he doesn't deserve to be in the NFL right now.

Good to see he used his fame and riches for vagina instead of doing something stupid like saving it up or investing it.

LOL, he was born in the same county as me.

Still, rather have nine kids and seven-nine babies mommas than have a smoking hot wife and get caught cheating on her.

*cough* Tiger *cough*
