IRVING -- Jon Kitna was surrounded by Roy Williams, Miles Austin and Jason Witten in a card game in the locker room Tuesday. Once the Cowboys put Tony Romo on injured reserve, it didn't take the receivers long to start making a play for catches.

"Nah," Kitna said when asked if they were pestering him already. "These have always been my guys."

After weeks of insisting they would not put Romo on injured reserve while holding out hope their starting quarterback would return this season, the Cowboys finally did the expected: They officially ended Romo's season.

Practice squad receiver Teddy Williams replaced Romo.

"When you factor that in with the time remaining in the season -- the practice time that we want him to have before he's able to play in a game -- we just felt like the timing was right to put him on injured reserve," interim coach Jason Garrett said, "and it gave us an opportunity to activate a player we think has some potential for the last couple of games."

Romo broke his left clavicle on a hit by blitzing linebacker Michael Boley during an Oct. 25 game against the Giants. He has been on the sideline for the eight games that he has missed, and Garrett said Romo will travel with the team for the last two games.

I'm glad Tony Romo didn't come back to play with a week or two left with nothing left for the Cowboys to gain, except for potentially losing Romo for long periods of time if he did come back and really get injured. Good move. Jon Kitna is carrying the team fine at this point, let him finish out the season, let Romo get completely healthy.

Good call by the Cowboys, it would be stupid if they tried to play him this season.

It's about this time this happened. Good move by the Girls.

Definitely took awhile with all the speculation of him coming back for a week or two, it's just not worth it. You have more to lose than to gain by playing Romo in meaningless games, except for Garrett.

No real point in this at this time lol

So eh, fuck the Cowboys. It'll be interesting to see Kitna finish it out though

Finally, lol. He was never going to play anyway. In the beginning there was a chance, but once they were officially out of the playoffs, they should have just done it then. Kitna has been doing pretty well, so he'll be fine to finish out the season.

Good move. It makes no sense to play him for 2 games.
