DeMarcus Cousins has formally requested a trade and has been directed not to attend tonight’s game against the Hornets.

Kings coach Paul Westphal released the following statement:

“Whenever a new season begins, in any sport, there is great hope that everything will progress in only a steady, upward direction. As we all know, it seldom happens like that in this life!

“As coaches, we can only ask that our players do everything they can to improve themselves as individuals and teammates. If they do this with all their hearts, we live with the results.

“Everything that happens on a team does not become known to the public. This is how it should be. However, when a player continually, aggressively, lets it be known that he is unwilling/unable to embrace traveling in the same direction as his team, it cannot be ignored indefinitely.

“DeMarcus Cousins has demanded to be traded. In the best interest of our team as we go forward, he has been directed by me, with the support of management, to stay home from the New Orleans game tonight.”

Josh Harrellson was talking about how Cousins is. He said something about Cousins attitude, or behavior or some shit like that. He said Cousins will be a star when he gets whatever it was under control. I agree, he needs to get his act together. Sure would love to see him replace Andray Blatche in Washington tho :) Big Cuz and Wall reunion? I can have big dreams as a Kentucky fan, can I not?

Stop acting like a big baby and get in there and play. Jesus, you have tons of talent but have one of the shittiest attitudes i've ever seen.

Already posted it, but Varejao + Kings protected lottery pick + Future Heat First for Cousins.. They need a defensive minded starter, and he's one of the best at Center, plus the pick back and maybe another pick.

This kid is a clown. Could see it when he was at Kentucky. He will not reach his potential unless he either controls these attitude issues or goes through a psychiatric evaluation, which might be a great idea considering that sometimes people can't control what they do. He either needs self control via will power or whatever the hell is on the prescription.

Kings not expected to trade Cousins.
John Greig, agent for DeMarcus Cousins, and Paul Westphal are at odds on whether DeMarcus Cousins has requested a trade.

Cousins and Westphal had another shouting match with in the coach’s office, which led to the second-year big man to be asked to stay home from Sunday's game.

Greig contends that Cousins hasn't asked for a trade, but he was overheard by teammates saying the opposite.

“Trade me now,” Cousins was heard to yell after Saturday’s loss to the Knicks, a source told Y! Sports.

Kings co-owner Joe Maloof and general manager Geoff Petrie said they will not trade Cousins, regardless of his wishes.

“We’re happy that he’s a King,” Maloof told Y! Sports. “But when a coach asks you to do something, you got to do it. We’re not trading him. …We have great expectations for him. It’s just one of those things that happens.

“Sooner or later he’ll understand what the NBA is about. Just get along with people. That’s all.”

Teams interested in Cousins have called the Kings, but none believes the team will seriously consider trading him so early in his career.

“Once you saw that release only came from Westphal, that was a telltale sign that this was a coach venting and not a call to the league by management and ownership that they were trading Cousins,” one Eastern Conference executive told Y! Sports.

Cousins has been a difficult teammate to play with.

“He’s selfish,” one source close to the team said of Cousins. “He’s always angry or clowning. He needs to change. The Kings have been great about covering things up for him, and his agent has been protecting him.

“He’s always miserable. He acts like he’s entitled.”

Some players are frustrated with his lack of professionalism.

“He’s a bully, and they let him get away with it,” one source said. “No one wants to deal with the guy.”

According to a league source, the Nets are looking to trade for Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, who earlier this week had a falling-out with Sacramento coach Paul Westphal.

It’s unclear if the Kings are ready to deal Cousins — the No. 4 pick in 2010 out of Kentucky — but the team released a statement Sunday condemning the 21-year-old for his lack of commitment to the club while stating he demanded a trade.

Cousins, who was excused from Sunday’s game in New Orleans and dressed Tuesday night against the Grizzlies, denied that he demanded a trade, and the Kings said they won’t deal him.

I don't blame him for wanting out of Sacramento at all. He's playing with so many guards who don't pass, and can't get him the ball.

For real. You know shit is bad when Jimmer comes off the bench and is #2 on your team in assists

Cousins could easily be the 2nd best center in the league if he got his shit together.

Unfortunately, his attitude is straight up garbage, so I doubt we ever see him amount to anything.

His attitude and inexperience has a lot to do with it. He gets too emotional at times and takes stupid fouls, and he takes some outrageous shots that should not be taken.

He no doubt has the skill set to be one of the better centers in the league, but as previously mentioned with a Kings offense that doesn't seem to ever have any good ball movement it's difficult.
