Could Ryan Bring Ray Lewis To Jets?
21st January, 2009 - 10:52 am
New York Daily News - There is some belief that new Jets coach Rex Ryan could help the team land Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, who could become a free agent this March.

Ryan coached Lewis for a decade in Baltimore, but it's unlikely that the Jets will be able to afford both Lewis and quarterback Brett Favre as they are already $10 million over the salary cap.

I would obviously love this, and Favre needs to retire we don't need him anymore.

Bart Scott would be a better fit for them, and he's younger/more affordable/more available.

I`d say the chances of Lewis going to Jets has improved when Rex went there, but not enough for Baltimore to worry. I agree that someone like Scott would be better for them, but not Lewis.

The Jets would need to clear a lot of CAP to acquire another decent QB. They're definitely not ready to begin Clemens' career and since their already over the CAP, releasing Favre wouldn't be enough. They'd have to trade for someone like Anderson or Leftwich, but they'd still be close to the CAP.
Scott would be more affordable, and I'm sure that Baltimore will keep Lewis around and let Scott go. Only one of them is leaving Baltimore, so odds are it's Scott.

That where you are wrong you need Favre for one more year for when they draft a QB. That Qb ca sit and which Favre play and be shown by the best on how to play the game with your heart not by how much I can get.
