The Star-Telegram -
With Dirk Nowitzki out indefinitely because of sprains to both his knee and ankle, the Mavericks could find themselves in the lottery this offseason.

The Star-Telegram is wondering whether their failure to even make the postseason would force team owner Mark Cuban to fire head coach Avery Johnson.

Johnson has three years remaining on his current contract with Dallas, something that wouldn't keep Cuban from simply buying the coach on.
Can't wait to see what Maple says.

I want him to...

And I think if we don't make the playoffs Cuban will dump him. Because then the last 3 years we have only regressed under him.

Depends though.

And any team Avery gets will be in the Playoffs the next year. Guy is a GREAT coach.

IMO, it would be a bad move and would probably open up a spot for Larry Brown. Avery is a great basketball mind, and like Kraig said, could probably coach 20 teams to the playoffs, easily.

Yeah it's not his fault that we traded for a washed up Point Guard.

If he get's fired and so does Flip, you better bet Joey D picks up Avery.
