MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Corey Brewer will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his right knee.

The team's defensive specialist tore the anterior cruciate ligament in Saturday's loss to Denver, the team said in a news release. An MRI on Monday revealed the extent of the damage. A surgery date has not been set.

"This is a tough situation for Corey and we feel for him," Timberwolves vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale said in a statement. "Corey has worked extremely hard on his game.s moving forward."

The 6-foot-9 guard/forward was Minnesota's lottery pick two years ago, chosen seventh overall out of Florida.

In his rookie season, Brewer struggled on the offensive end, shooting just 37 percent from the field while averaging 5.8 points and 3.7 rebounds.

He improved his shooting percentage to 41 percent in 15 games this season, but still averaged a modest 6.2 points and 3.3 rebounds.
Not a starter, but it's one less player they have this year.

Not like they would make the playoffs, but it hurts his development no doubt.
