It appears as though the Dallas Stars are taking the firts necessary steps down the path to re-sign Brad Richards. Baby steps, mind you; but paces in the right direction nonetheless.
According to the Dallas Morning News, GM Joe Nieuwendyk has received permission from the team's money lenders to start contract negotiations with Richards.
Nieuwendyk told the DMN he anticipated discussions could get "complicated", but it's a start anyway. And the news also adds weight to the unlikelihood of Richards being traded before this season's Feb. 28 deadline.
If they can afford to extend Daley like that, might as well try with Richards right? He's deserving of it, but wonder what kind of money he'll ask for considering the season he's having.
