Is it possible that they are looking at signing Brett Favre with Peyton's future in doubt?

I'd be surprised if they're really talking about Favre here. Irsay is known for saying stuff like this, but I just don't see the Colts going after Brett Favre. Maybe it's possible just for a game or two until Peyton is back, but to be honest, I don't think Favre would want to do it. He's happily retired now.

He wouldn't be backing up. My guess is that it'd be a deal just long enough for Manning to get back. Favre would then retire without a second though, and get a Super Bowl ring if the Colts somehow won the Super Bowl.

Colts need a backup, and Manning might not be able to start the season.. Brett would come in for a few games and let Manning to properly rest instead of just throwing him in there.

its not him lol. whenever a team needs a qb his name will pop up just because hes better then what anyone else can get.
