Well, the difference between Minnesota and Philly is that Minnesota is actually a good team. The Sixers will probably be in the lottery discussion by midseason.

Minny's okay. Throwing them in the top 5 is ridiculous though imo

Minny's a really good team, when healthy. Problem is, Rubio, Martin, Love, and Pekovic will all miss a high number of games this year at some point, if history repeats itself.

They're not a top 5 team healthy or not

Dunno what you want, that's what power rankings are. If you go 3-0 and (almost) blow out two playoff teams, why shouldn't you be there? Once they lose, they'll drop, easy as that.

That's having it right. It's just Week 1, so it's not like these are set in stone, they will be constantly changing. That being said, the teams that are undefeated, should take the top spots, and have it go from there. They haven't lost, so why would a 0-3, 1-2, or 2-1 team place ahead of them.

As guru said, they're powering rankings, not standings. It's who you believe is actually that good, not who is undefeated after 3 games. If the maker actually believes they're that good, then its fine, but I don't think he does

That may be the case, but Power Rankings have always been based on overall records as well on the record of last week.

I've always kinda seen it as a snapshot of right now kinda thing. Right now, Philadelphia is good enough to beat the Heat, Bulls and Wizards, so why shouldn't they be able to beat anybody else and be at the top.

I think if you think Power Rankings in general you have an image in your head of a mid-season list with the actual best teams at the top, but that only happened because of the games they won and the records they have. I'm sure PR's after one week have been funky in years past.
