Cody officially cut by Ravens, indicted for animal cruelty
(Photo: Evan Habeeb, USA TODAY Sports)The Baltimore Ravens officially cut defensive lineman Terrence Cody on Monday, less than two weeks after it was announced they would cut him after the Super Bowl.
The news of the Ravens' planned release of Cody came when news surfaced that Cody was under investigation for animal cruelty. On Monday, Cody was indicted on an animal cruelty charge. Cody also faces charges of animal abuse or neglect on an alligator, illegal possession of an alligator and drug possession.
Per Jamison Hensley of ESPN, Cody faces 15 counts in all:
• Two counts of aggravated animal cruelty involving a dog described as a Presa Canario Mastiff," Hensley wrote. "Those are both felonies and carry a maximum incarceration of three years.
• Five counts of animal abuse or neglect involving the same dog.
• One count of illegal possession of an alligator.
• Five counts of animal abuse or neglect involving the alligator.
• One count of possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
• One count of possession of marijuana.
Cody was a second-round draft pick of the Ravens in 2010. He had 87 career tackles with the Ravens.
