Former Redskins RB Clinton Portis will announce his retirement at a press conference on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 2:30 p.m. ET at Redskins Park.

I hate how he became a bit of a dickhead in his last year or so with the Skins, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for what he sacrificed for the team. Gibbs ran him into the ground, he took a hell of a beating and still gave 100% every game. Sad to see him go. (even though he should have called it quits 2-3 years ago.)

I honestly thought he retired already because I hadn't seen him playing in awhile. I like how he kept interviews entertaining with all those outfits and whatnot, and I liked watching him play. He was a great RB, when he was playing.

He was a great Redskin and gave it his all. Ran into the ground and never really recovered to the explosive back he was in Denver. Gibbs made him to be like a Riggins or Riggs and not like Portis. But he went out and did what was asked of him.
