Plus side, is that they should have Jordy Nelson back, which helps the offense, and they have a Bye Week this upcoming week so they time to see how things will be after that. Still, it doesn't sound good for them if Matthews does miss any time. The Green Bay Packers should have wide receiver Jordy Nelson back after their Week 10 bye. The same cannot be expected for linebacker Clay Matthews.
Nelson and Matthews left Sunday's 31-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals with injuries. Nelson is dealing with a sprained ankle, but Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he believes the receiver will be "fine," according to the team's official website.
Matthews has a pulled hamstring. He doesn't believe it's as serious as past issues he's had with hamstrings. Still, the Packers could opt to take a more conservative approach with their sack leader.
Things are less clear regarding right tackle Bryan Bulaga, who suffered a hip injury Sunday. McCarthy is "concerned" because Bulaga's body wasn't in a normal position when he went down. McCarthy said the Packers still are in the evaluation process.
The Packers' bye week represents a gift from the football gods.
Charles Woodson & Clay Matthews missing on their defense? That's a lot to have to overcome. Not just with the talents, but more the leadership those two have.
On top of that, Bryan Bulaga could miss time also. I don't remember the last time the Packers had this much injury problems, to guys that have the big impacts. Except maybe their SB year when they lost Grant and Finley early in the year, for the season.
