Some great news to hear. As the article says, still a long ways to go, but this is a step in the right direction for Chuck Pagano, and I continue to wish him nothing but health and continued progression towards being cured.Promising news out of Indianapolis: Colts coach Chuck Pagano's cancer is in remission.
Pagano's doctors said Monday that the Colts coach has passed the standard test administered to leukemia patients "with flying colors," according to The Indianapolis Star.
Oncologist Dr. Larry Cripe Cripe pronounced Pagano in remission after a bone marrow aspirate test showed no sign of the cancer.
Pagano isn't in the clear yet. He still must undergo two more rounds of chemotherapy. After that, he'll receive "maintenance treatment" for the two-year period that follows the final chemo session.
"We need to keep going, and we will not be able to use the word 'cure' for four or five years," Cripe told The Star.
Interim coach Bruce Arians will continue to lead the 5-3 Colts in Pagano's absence. Pagano provided one of the season's signature moments Sunday, when he delivered an emotional postgame speech to Colts players and coaches following a 23-20 win over the Miami Dolphins.
