Are These the NBA's Christmas Day Uniforms?

It seems the Grinch decided to grab hold of the NBA's Christmas Day jerseys in an attempt to ruin our holiday season early this year.

The above photo surfaced on Reddit and was snagged via imgur.com, and it appears to show the Christmas uniforms for the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Something interesting to note here: The Celtics don't play on Christmas Day. If you're like me, you're pleading with the basketball Gods, then, for this to be some sort of gimmick or sick joke. These short-sleeved jerseys look like warmup shirts, not something that should be worn during the game.

While it's still unclear if these are, in fact, what players will be wearing on Dec. 25, SportsNet New York's Brian Erni, writing specifically about Brooklyn, believes they are:

Can he please be wrong? Or should I start missing last year's Christmas-themed outfits now?

This is a picture from an eBay listing. It seems to jibe with the previous reports we’ve heard about: sleeves, with the player’s number on the left sleeve. Also, I had heard from a source that the front of the jersey would feature an enlarged logo, not a wordmark like I originally suspected.

I cannot confirm this is the real deal, but I’d put money on it. The tagging looks legit, the seller has a ton of other licensed products for sale, and jerseys often leak through retailers, both on eBay and not. It’s only an educated guess right now, but I think you’re looking at the Nets Christmas jersey.

Feel free to miss last year's Christmas jerseys with me.

Personally, I've got nothing against the sleeved uniforms. Some of them are quite fascinating and I like the idea of more form-fitting garbs, if only because it decreases the likelihood of Kevin Garnett pulling opposing players out of bounds.
On the bright side, the logos on these shirts—excuse me, uniforms—are prominently placed and aesthetically pleasing. Those same emblems aren't always as conspicuous on the normal jerseys.

One more look.

Boston's Lucky the Leprechaun looks like something out of a comic book when enlarged to his current size. The Thunder's logo could pass for a superhero's calling card as well, while Chicago and Miami's seem ordinary, yet visually appealing nonetheless.
Brooklyn's logo remains boring, but that's not the jersey's fault. Their team symbol, unlike their mascot, BrooklyKnight, has always been plain and uninteresting.

Anyhow, I know you're anxiously awaiting for this game-day attire to hit stores. That is, if that's what they are. For all we know, this could be a clever ruse, borne out of commissioner David Stern's peculiar and unknown sense of humor.

Or what we see could be what we'll get, in which case I recommend you break the bank on a more sensible investment.

Like marketing alternative Christmas jerseys for NBA players to wear, for instance.

Blahhhh if its the real deal

Definitely real. I've heard there will be big logos on the front of the jerseys without a number, which will be on the sleeves. All-Star jerseys will be like that too I believe.

Lol agreed. Subtle and minimalistic.

But like they said, those new ones make you appreciate last year's.
