How do you think kid is going to ultimately fare in Minnesota?

I mean, I realize the whole WCO concept, but even still.. This was a hefty kind of pick to pay at #12 for this QB. Especially with the chance to trade up and move for Gabbert.

At the end of the day, I think the Vikings could really damage the maturation of this kid if they just throw him into the games early. I really hope for his sake they pick up a nice veteran he can sit and learn behind.

Personally, I think he'll turn out to be a good quarterback. I'm not sure about just throwing him in right away, one moment I hear they are looking at a veteran QB and then I'm hearing they'd like Christian to be the opening day starter. I think, for him it would be best if he was the #2 for a year. In the long run as long as he stays healthy, I think it will pay off.

If they have him start right away, it'll hurt his chances to succeed. Give him some time to succeed. I see him as a project, because he is inconsistent. You don't know what you'll get from him game in and game out. One game, he'll have 4 TD's no picks. Next game he'll have 5 picks and 1 TD or something of that nature. It's just so hard to understand him sometimes. Give him a year, maybe two, as a backup and I could see him eventually succeeding. Once he gets that year or two under his belt.

I like Ponder but we'll see how it goes.

It's not a HORRIBLE pick, but it's definitely a big reach. They could have traded back into the first round if they needed to, but I agree that he would have been available today if they had just been patient. Ponder has a lot of potential, but he just needs to be coached and mentored into a good QB. If the Vikings are patient with him, he could be a very nice pickup after a few years.

The Vikings fans here are absolutely disgusted with the pick... It's hilarious to see all the backlash every year when the Vikings select.

:p

Needless to say, he doesn't make me worried about facing the Vikings twice a year lol.

He'll be a decent QB. One of those guys that you think you could replace, but never do because you have bigger needs.

If nothing else, Ponder has the opportunity to succeed if Rice comes back, and throwing quick little drags and slants to Harvin. Also, Rudolph is going to be a stud... And he has Adrian Peterson to hand the ball off to. If he doesn't succeed, he has noone to blame because coming in as a rookie, he is in the best scenario for him to have a good start to his career.

Shitty offensive line would pose a problem
