From kcstar.com
The Kansas City Chiefs are in discussions with multiple teams to trade defensive end Jared Allen, who led the NFL in sacks last season.

Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson issued a statement Thursday confirming the team has discussed Allen with a few teams interested in acquiring the Chiefs' designated franchise player.

The Chiefs and Allen have been unable to work out a contract for almost a year.

Allen, a 2008 Pro Bowl starter, had 15 1/2 sacks last season despite being suspended the first two games because of multiple DUI convictions.
Hopefully nothing comes of this :p

why not? he's a franchise player, meaning he's costing the team tons of money.. trade him for some picks and/or players...

idk, i just love him a lot. i wanted us to build our defense around him :(

btw here is new info:
Jared Allen could soon be getting his wish.

The Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have expressed an interest in acquiring the disgruntled Chiefs’ Pro Bowl defensive end, a source said. Allen, who led the NFL in sacks last season, has wanted out of Kansas City since negotiations for a long-term contract broke down last year.

Allen could be in Minnesota visiting with the Vikings as soon as Friday, the source said. A visit to Tampa could follow.

Allen had yet to discuss the particulars of a long-term contract with either the Vikings or Buccaneers. A bigger obstacle could be an agreement between either of the teams and the Chiefs on draft choice compensation.

Allen is the Chiefs’ franchise player. He is free to sign a contract offer sheet with any other team.

If he does, the Chiefs have the right to match the offer and retain Allen. If they decline to match, the Chiefs would receive two first-round draft picks in exchange.

It was unclear whether either Minnesota or Tampa Bay would be willing to part with two first-round picks in order to obtain Allen.

The Chiefs confirmed Thursday that they have been in conversation with other teams about Allen.

“Jared is not an exclusive franchise player,” team president Carl Peterson said in a statement. “Therefore, based on the terms of the collective-bargaining agreement, he has the right to visit and negotiate with other teams. However, for any trade to be completed, the Chiefs would need to reach an agreement on compensation. At this point, all of these discussions are preliminary.”

I do not want to see Allen go to the Vikings. Their defense-line is good anyway, put Allen in and it'll be hard to do anything.

Gaines and Allen would be badass.
