The last time San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates made a reception during a game, it was during the team's Week 1 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Since then, he's been out mainly "due to pain in his right foot due to scar tissue tearing as he comes back from plantar fasciitis," the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The 31-year-old seven-time Pro Bowler didn't practice Thursday, raising the question of whether he'd be ready to go when the team takes on the New York Jets this Sunday.
Head coach Norv Turner said Thursday's absence was planned and Gates is still expected to return Sunday, according to the paper.
