Rajon Rondo could leave the Boston Celtics in unrestricted free agency in 2015, but he could possibly be acquired now via trade.

Danny Ainge's asking price for Rondo are two unprotected first round picks, according to Sam Smith of NBA.com.

Teams cannot trade first round picks in consecutive seasons.

I'd give one for him, 2 is stretching it though.

Rondo is getting dealt at the draft to a team that logically will keep him

Depending on the team, I can see a team giving up two picks for him.

I guess he almost got dealt to the Kings for Thomas, McLemore, and picks but he wasn't interested in singing long-term there.

Feel like that was old news though.

Also read the Celtics declined. But if they declined because of any other reason than Rondo saying no, then they are delusional if they think they will get a better package than that.

I don't think two picks are that big of a stretch.

Just a matter of whether teams willing to make that deal can convince him to sign, and obviously that's a short list. Any idea what teams he would want to play for?

I don't think stretching it was right wording. I would just be a bit apprehensive of that with him coming off that injury. Maybe in the off-season, but I still want to see how he progresses this season.

On SportsCenter today the ESPN guy was saying the Suns should give the Celtics Dragic and two picks and I was like wtf haha.

But Rondo is worth 2 picks.

Well I guess that's true, and I get the feeling they'll have to settle with a young player + 1 unprotected instead of two because of those concerns.

But I wouldn't be surprised if a team took that gamble because of the upside he's got, well not upside, but how far he can bounce back.

There's a huge difference between two picks and two unprotected picks.
