Cavaliers give Byron Scott his walking papers

Updating a previous item, Byron Scott has been fired as Cavs head coach, source told the Akron Beacon-Journal.

The writing was on the wall. Once the news is confirmed, Scott will officially end his tenure in Cleveland with a record of 64-166 over three seasons. You can bet the Cavs will be sure that whoever the next head coach is has Kyrie Irving's stamp of approval.

He wasn't given much of a chance to succeed, but the team showed no improvement defensively and they quit on him down the stretch. Had to go.

With Kyrie, Waiters, TT, Varejao, a potential top 3 pick and loads of cap space, this appears to be a decent job to get.

Terry Francona is now the longest tenured coach in Cleveland. Stability, we embody it.

I have a feeling they'll be going for a big name.

The Cavs are going to hire the Heat assistant and fail to sign LeBron next summer. It will be funny

It's funny because that picture shows the only thing he does. Stands still and cross his arms just not giving a fuck

There was one time where the Heat cut a Cavs 27 point lead to single digits and he was all like:

I really need to find the "Many Faces of Byron Scott" pic.  That thing is gold, but I haven't seen it in years.

Byron Scott was fired by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday and the veteran coach believes he was not given a fair chance to turn the situation around.

"I'm disappointed, more than anything,'' Scott said in a telephone interview. "I don't think I got a fair shake.''

Scott will pick up things from his Cavaliers office before returning home to California on Saturday.

"I'll land on my feet,'' Scott said.

"I'm a straight shooter.''
