Cards in Red, Steelers in White

It was announced today that the Arizona Cardinals, the Super Bowl home team, has opted to wear their red jerseys. Obviously this means the Steelers will take the field on February 1st wearing their road white's.

This will be the 3rd time in 7 trips that the Steelers have donned white jerseys in the game. Aside from beating the Vikings in the 1974 finale, the Steelers wore white while beating the Seahawks in 2006.

Not too big of a deal but sometimes its interesting to discover what choice the home team makes and why. The Steelers were the home team in the 2006 SB but opted to wear white b/c of their success, while playing on the road, in the post-season. This story also reminds me of the 2007 post-season, where the Rockies wore their black alternates in every playoff game but 1. During one of their NLCS games at Arizona, the media caught wind of the "lucky charm" factor the Rockies had in their black jerseys. Of course...this lead to the D-Backs opting to wear their black jerseys the day after, forcing the Rockies to wear their road gray uniform.

The tactic didn't work for Arizona. -AE

I figured they would do what we did when we were the 6th seed in '05 and wear their whites sine that's what they have been successful in as of late. No biggie to me, I like both of our jerseys. =]
