Dolphins coach Cam Cameron was fired Thursday morning, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports, continuing the team's shakeup following the hiring of Bill Parcells as head of football operations.

Cameron's fate was decided a day after the Dolphins hired Jeff Ireland as their new general manager and less than a week after Cameron finished a 1-15 season in his first year as an NFL head coach.

Parcells' call also means the Dolphins will have their fifth head coach in five seasons in 2008.

Bad personnel decisions over the past decade are a major reason for the decline of the Dolphins, once a perennial playoff team. They're sitting out the postseason for the sixth year in a row, and only an overtime win against Baltimore last month prevented them from becoming the NFL's first 0-16 team.

Yea I was kind of surprised by this to, but with a record of 1-15, and Bill Parcels on ship now, time for a new direction.

Yeah, they had to fire him...I mean, 1-15?!?!?!? He'll find a job somewhere though.

Hes been rumored as the next OC for the 49ers by rotoworld. And not only was Cameron fired but our whole coaching staff besides our LB's coach and our assistant special teams coach, who made our rookie punter awesome. Cowboys assistant HC Tony Sparano (not Soprano) has been rumored as our next HC, a lot of candidates out there, but we're most likely going with him, unless, the Falcoms sign him when he interviews Friday, if they do, we would probably go after Cowboys OC Jason Garett.

I don't think it was as much the 1-15 record as it was the uncertainty in the Dolphins' line-up every week. Look at the QB situation from week to week for example. Cameron committed to John Beck starting a game, had him taking all the snaps all week long in practices, then puts him back on the bench after the first drive during the Bills game.

Cameron didn't make this mess in Miami...but he certainly didn't make 1 single stride toward improving it. He won't be unemployed for very long but I don't think he is a very good head coach either way.
