Andrew Bynum confirmed on Friday that he is uninterested in playing in the 2012 Olympics.

Bynum would prefer the extra rest and will undergo the same procedure in Germany that Kobe Bryant had last summer.

"I've got to take care of my legs in the off-season," Bynum said Friday. "I've got some things planned for my knees.... I've got to do some therapy that I'm going overseas to do."

Dang....

No Dwight, No Bynum....

They might as well start Love at C, and have Durant at PF

Durant is far better suited for the 3 at the Olympics.

Wouldn't you prefer Bron or Melo at the 4 rather than Durant anyways?

Nothing wrong with Chandler at C playin some D.

but I can also see them wanting to play Bron or Durant at PF and move Love to C.

The thing with the international game is that they don't tend to play off of elite perimeter players who can drill it from deep as much as we do here, that's why Durant was such a weapon in the World Championships.

The other teams were so reluctant to leave Durant and play help defense that a lot of the time the opponent paying so much attention to Durant opened up easy opps for his teammates.

if the usa loses the Olympics that will be the ultimate fail of all time. This team is way to good to lose.

I think you have it the wrong way.. He would dominate at both positions, it wouldn't really make a difference.

It would make a big difference because of the reasons stated above.

Lol if you knew the international game and the way they defend guys like Durant it makes a lot of difference. Durant is far more effective, and his teammates are far more effective, whenever Durant is playing on the wing.

Teams are reluctant to leave Durant to help others because of his perimeter game. In return you have things like, Derrick Rose getting past his defender and since the opponent doesn't want to leave Durant there is no help d and the lane is wide open for Rose to finish at the basket. In other cases since Durants guy is reluctant to leave him and the top man has been beat that forces the corner to help, which could leave someone else open for a good look. And so on. Having Durant on the perimeter as opposed the short corner or high post benefits everyone.
