Bruce Arians: 'Why' Take a QB?

Through three rounds, the Arizona Cardinals have not drafted a quarterback. It really should not surprise anyone. Head coach Bruce Arians said he was not really wowed by any of the QBs in the draft. He also has said he feels very comfortable with the three guys he already has in Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley.

Reportedly, the team also told Lindley that they would not be drafting a QB early, and Arians said that it would be unlikely that one drafted late would be able to beat out Lindley on the roster.

Despite that, many fans and media expected it.

Arians was asked about it after the team made their Day 2 selections.

He responded as he typically does -- bluntly. He asked why they should have drafted one.

Weve got three pretty good ones and you dont take quarterbacks if theyre not going to beat out the ones you have, Arians added. I know people rate quarterbacks. Ive been doing this a long time. I like ours better.

Call me crazy, but with Palmer's TO issues, I'd rather see Stanton out there.

I would love to see Thomas out there! 6'6, strong arm, can run, very mobile etc...  Haven't had a QB in Az that can run/move since Jake Plummer.  And with Plummer, weighed about 150 lbs and they took his run game away bc they didn't want him to get crushed.  Don't think they will take that away from Thomas bc of his size.  That's if he ever gets a shot at playing...
 
IMO, the Cardinals got a steal by getting Thomas in the 3rd round!

People get too caught up in measurables, and forget the fact that he couldn't even play quarterback effectively at the college level. In a fairly weak conference as well.

I am not all excited to see him being the starter, but hope to see him improve.  I like Palmer, always have even when he wasn't on the the Cards.  I have a feeling his TOs will be alot less this year.(Hoping really).
