Word is the Vikings offered the Browns their 2009 and 2010 first-round draft picks for quarterback Brady Quinn, but Cleveland, after consideration, said no thanks. Economically, the deal makes sense for the Vikings in that Quinn, who is under contract for three more years after this season, already has been paid his signing bonus. And the Vikings wouldn't have to spend on the draft picks. With the trading deadline recently passed, the deal could be resurrected after the season. If the Browns won't relent on Quinn, they might deal QB Derek Anderson to Minnesota.

He's young, good, and shouldn't be too hard to obtain considering he is the Browns' 2nd best QB, but is starter material.

Sorry...

...but until I see what Quinn can do under center, during the NFL regular season, he's not worth even 1 first round pick.

I won't sit here and say that Tarvaris or Gus are any better but at least we know what we've got with them.

I think the Browns' reluctance to deal Quinn shows how much confidence they have in Derek Anderson to this point.

Not worth a 1st round pick? So your saying he shouldn't have been a 1st round pick when he was drafted?

Hell...he almost wasn't anyways.

Any draft pick could be a hit or a miss. I won't even get into that.

But as a Vikings' fan, I am not ready at 3-4 in the NFC North to give away our next 2 first round picks for a guy who hasn't started a single NFL game.

I agree, I have a friend who thinks Quinn is all that and crap. But I on the other hand think he is total <Censored>e! To me he was nothing special in college nor in the pros, but he still didn't get his chance but if he would he wouldn't be nothing special!

I'm a Steelers fan, meaning I hate everything about the Browns, but from what I have seen in pre-season and his composure I think he will be a Pro Bowl QB. I know, he hasnt taken an NFL snap...

What bothers me, is that we wont take this deal, yet we wont play Quinn.. Its obvious he is the QB for the future so instead of sitting him on the bench, play him..

Exactly, I dont know why Anderson is playing. He's not helping you win any games, trade him while you can get SOMETHING for him.

The only reason Derek Anderson is playing is to boost trade value, which right now is going down after the Redskins game.

Quinn's a solid QB. I hate Notre Dame with a passion, but I like the kid and have rooted for him to succeed in the NFL. He certainly needs to start making better commercials though, that one for the protein shake is AWFUL. He's not worth 2 first round picks, but I think he'll be a good QB, certainly better than Tavaris or Ferrotte.

I'm not going to say Quinn sucks because again...we don't know what he can do under center in the NFL regular season yet.

Great quarterback in High School, great quarterback in college, smart guy, raw talent. But you could say the same about Peyton Manning & Ryan Leaf when they came out in the draft.

Look where both are now.

Elcheato hit it right on the head.

Anderson should have been benched this past sunday, until the 4th quarter he was 5-21 I believe, if thats not enough to pull him and play Quinn, Idk what is. Now granted he did lead somewhat of a comeback but when it mattered most he underthrew a wide open Braylon Edwards.

I do think their planning on moving Anderson this offseason, and thats probably why Quinn hasnt made any public statements about playing time.

Quinn better not make any public statements about playing time. It's his second season...

Im just saying he's handled it well, hasnt questioned the coaches, or even made a statement that would cause any shake up in the locker room.

keep in mind, Winslow, one of the top, young TE's in the league has been sick lately, and Edwards was struggling to make catches, while Stallworth was injured. It's very difficult to overcome that, as a young QB.

Now keep in mind that Anderson came from nowhere last year and was remarkably good, if not great. They've got the potential, and with the WR's injured, just coming back, and still dropping a whole lot of passes, why would you give another QB the go. I think they're doing a smart thing b y letting the guy get some more time, he's starting to turn things around, and starting to find Braylon Edwards more often.

Anderson has proven himself, so why toss him so soon for a QB that HASNT proven anything.

I understand, but one good season isnt really proving himself.

I understand injuries, but other then monday night, Anderson hasnt done anything. Yesterday he had an easy pass that would have put them into FG range and tie the game and he underthrows a wide open Braylon Edwards.

Granted Edwards has dropped ALOT of balls, Stallworth has been injured and so has Winslow. But he had all of them yesterday and still put up mediocre numbers. The Browns said last week if he continues to play bad that we could "Very Well see Quinn" and 5-21 should be enough to give the guy a chance.

I hear all the "He hasnt proved himself" but that is irrelevent b/c he hasnt had the chance to.
