After listening to team president Mike Holmgren and GM Tom Heckert on Thursday's conference call, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot "gets the feeling" the Browns are prepared to turn back to Colt McCoy as the quarterback in 2012.
"We think Colt has a big ceiling," said Heckert. "It's my job to get him better players." Despite their previous waffling on the subject, both officials now believe it's too early to write off McCoy. Holmgren will try to "discourage" Heckert from trading down at No. 4 overall. McCoy will have to be supported by a strong running game, lending credence to the belief that Alabama's Trent Richardson could be the Browns' top pick rather than Ryan Tannehill.

Sitting through another year of Colt is like walking on broken glass. Drafting a QB not named Luck/RG3 at #4 would be like eating broken glass.

I'd rather walk on it. Trade up for a QB next year.

Eating broken glass sounds like it would suck.

Sounds like a bunch of damage control to me. Translation: we were unable to trade up to draft either Luck or RG3 this year and there are no FA's we want this year so we have to tell Colt he is our guy. However, once we suck again this year we will draft Matt Barkley next year and Colt will be kicked to the curb.

While not a Browns fan (and I'm sure those who are might disagree with me) but it seems like you use the fourth pick for a need, whether it is Richardson or Blackman and the picks acquired from the Falcons to add pieces.
