Brendon Haywood reportedly has a “spread provision” in his contract that allows any team that waives him to can spread out the payments of his contract until 2026.

Haywood has three years, $27.22 million remaining on his deal, so any team that waives him would be responsible for no more than $2 million per year over the next 14 years.

Haywood’s name is bound to surface in discussions between the Mavericks and teams looking for salary-cap protection and a functional center.
