After 9 years in this whirlwind business they call the NFL, I am proud to announce that I am hanging up my cleats. I've had an amazing run and I appreciate all of the support from the fans through the good and the bad. The New York Giants are a great organization and I am proud to have been a part of it for so long. I love my coaches and my teammates and will miss them as well as the game itself but I am healing well from my surgery and I look forward to running around with my kids for years to come!" - RB Brandon Jacobs

I'll miss Jacobs, Gilbride not as much. He did get a lot of unwarranted hate, had some great plays at the right times -- but also had a lot of terrible plays at the worst times.

Brandon Jacobs was always fairly underrated, imo. He got too much flak for dancing in the holes, but that's kind of what RBs do. When he needed to be powerful, he sure as hell was.

I remember he started dancin in the holes after a season where he took some serious hits, missed some time, played through nagging injuries, etc. I think he was trying to not get his body destroyed so early in his career.

Dude played with heart and gave everything he had to the game.

That play really fucked with Landry's psyche.

He pretty much became a body builder after that.  He's a safety in a DE body now.

Yeah Ive always loved Jacobs

He was a mac truck for the 1st couple yrs, and like some one said earlier took some hits (mainly low blows to the knees cause noone could tackle him high) and kinda eased back.

But his heart and passion for the game, was key
