http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/04/02/boldin-wou...lay-in-florida/It wouldn’t feel like a normal news cycle at NFL.com without an offseason update on Anquan Boldin.
Boldin, who said he wanted to be traded from the Cardinals, only to back off that stance and say he wanted a more lucrative contract extension, recently indicated to our Steve Wyche that if something does happen, it would be around draft time.
The Cardinals have maintained they would like to sign Boldin to an extension, to the extent that coach Ken Whisenhunt told Vic Carucci he expects the wide receiver to be back. But Boldin doesn’t seem to share that sentiment, telling ESPN Radio 760 in Miami on Thursday that he still isn’t sure if he’ll return to Arizona.
“Honestly, I don’t know,” Boldin said. “It’s at a point right now where there’s not any discussion between myself on the team.”
Boldin diffused most of the questions during the radio intervivew, saying his agent will handle discussions with the Cardinals. But Boldin made it clear that he didn’t want to enter next season with the situation — a possible contract extension — unresolved and hanging over his head.
The scenario was then posed to Boldin — who attended Pahokee (Fla.) High School, was named Florida’s “Mr. Football” and then played at Florida State — about returning to his home state.
“As far as playing in my home state, I would love to,” Boldin said. “I’m a Florida guy and always will be a Florida guy at heart. If it happens, I’ll definitely be grateful.”
