The Houston Rockets will pursue Carmelo Anthony this offseason, according to a source.

The Rockets won't have enough cap space to sign Anthony outright, but a sign-and-trade could be an option.

The source said that the Rockets inquired about the availability of Anthony at the deadline. The Knicks have held discussions previously with the Rockets on Omer Asik.

The Knicks could deal Asik and/or Jeremy Lin for Anthony while maintaining cap space for 2015.

With no state income taxes in Texas, Anthony could take a reduced salary while not as severely impacting his take home pay.

The Knicks aren't going to agree to a S&T if they're only getting Asik or Lin. Chandler Parsons would HAVE to be in the deal, and then it makes it worth it for NY if Melo planned on leaving anyway.

In all honesty, what's in it for NY if Melo leaves?

He probably honestly believes Chandler Parsons is better.

Asik and lin, trade tyson for potentially a pick. Start the rebuild

Its better to let melo go

Explain to me the point of them dealing for Lin and Asik? To appease the Rockets? Asik has already shown to have little value, and Lin doesn't have much himself. If Melo tells you he's leaving, and wants a S&T to Houston, tell him to fuck off and sign the MLE.

Asik doesnt have little value, houston just doesnt want to trade him for trash

And they need a pg and a center to replace tyson

Its not a bad trade if melo wants out. Both free agents, and knicks will have a ton of cap and a pock next year

He ranked 28th in the league in PER for Centers last year.

He's a back up center who isn't happy with the role of being a back up. That's troublesome.

Per doesnt do him justice

It isnt an end all stat. He is certainly a starting center

It would be a one year deal anyways and im sure they can get something at least decent for tyson

I dont think so

I guess both he and tyson are expiring. Im sure one of them could be dealt for something useful, one year deal and all

Lmao.

Asik is garbage. The rockets are just mad they overpaid for a garbage center and think they can get someone good for him.
