I'm hearing the Blazers have ended the Oden experiment. No link or anything.
Has anyone else heard this?
Has anyone else heard this?
- Blazers EdgeThe Portland Trail Blazers acquired four players in exchange for two players at Thursday's NBA Trade Deadline, sending out forward Gerald Wallace and center Marcus Camby in exchange for New Jersey Nets center Mehmet Okur, Nets forward Shawne Williams, Houston Rockets center Hasheem Thabeet and Rockets guard Jonny Flynn.
That puts Portland's roster at 17 players, with two players needing to be released so that Portland is at the maximum of 15 players.
A league source tells me the Blazers intend on waiving center Greg Oden.
- Marc SteinSource w/ knowledge of Blazers' thinking says team has informed Greg Oden's camp that Oden is being waived for needed roster room after deals
if phoenix didnt have 2 centers, they might make sense. great medical staffShould come to Detroit, perhaps we can keep him healthy. I mean we managed to keep T-Mac healthy. Made McDyess look like he was never hurt (just aged). Also see with Rip's injuries this year that he misses our medical staff. Not saying it would work for Oden, but it's worth a shot.
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7692811/source-portland-trail-blazers-waive-former-no-1-overall-pick-greg-odenOne source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Marc Stein the Portland Trail Blazers were forced to waive oft-injured center Greg Oden -- selected No. 1 overall in the 2007 draft over Kevin Durant -- to help create sufficient roster space to accommodate all the players Portland acquired in separate trades with New Jersey and Houston on Thursday.
The Blazers also waived young center Chris Johnson.
My thoughts exactly.I don't see Oden ever being anything in the NBA.
