Blake Griffin will need surgery on his elbow

Blake Griffin has a staph infection in his right elbow and will undergo surgery on Monday.

This news came out of nowhere, and he isn't expected to be re-evaluated until after the All-Star break. There's simply no telling how long Griffin will be sidelined, but his owners should sit tight and wait for further updates. Spencer Hawes will likely be the biggest beneficiary in Griffin's absence and makes a lot of sense as a speculative add, while Glen Davis and Hedo Turkoglu will be in the mix for more minutes as well.

He could be out from anywhere from a couple weeks to well over a year, to be completely honest. Everyone responds differently to staph, and have different types of recoveries. A lot has to go wrong for it to be a year process though. I imagine he's back within two months.

This possibly sets up OKC and LAC as a 7 and 8 seed in the West, even if I believe OKC can get hot and climb up to 5-6, pretty quickly. Imagine that shit. Golden State and Memphis would be in trouble if their 1 and 2 positions held.
