Pacers president Larry Bird called Paul George "one of the five best young guys I've been around in all my years in the game."

Bird may be exaggerating here, but it speaks to how high the Pacers are on George. He started 19 games as a 20-year-old rookie, averaging 7.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.7 treys per game in those starts. George's minutes figure to see a boost next year as he matures, making him a deep league sleeper.

I've been very excited to watch as he's grown over the course of the season. By the end of his rookie season he had taken over the starting spot, and was playing great defense and shooting a lot better as well. Having that kind of performance heading into next season is definitely promising. What do you guys think about the future of Paul George?

Thoughts?

This is just a retarded statement by Larry Bird...

Paul George is a nice player don't get me wrong, but one of the top five young players he's seen in his lifetime?

Guess, he didn't watch many games this season, because John Wall, Blake Griffin, Greg Monroe, DeMarcus Cousins, and Jordan Crawford had pretty good years (and that's this year alone).

Just saying, the way George has been playing reminds almost everyone of Tracy McGrady. If he can stay healthy he has the shot to become a superstar. He's starting out perfectly to become something like that. They aren't trying to force him right away, but are just progressing him gradually. I'm excited to see what he becomes.
