Free agent guard Richie Incognito is on the verge of signing a deal with the Bills, a source close to new coach Rex Ryan told Tim Graham of The Buffalo News.

ESPN reported Friday night that Incognito would meet with the Bills over the weekend, but the paper was informed that the physical is a formality and that he's destined to join the Bills.

The addition of Incognito could add the Bills a much-needed boost at offensive line. Pro Football Focus graded Buffalo dead last in run blocking and 22nd in pass blocking.

However, the signing would come with obvious baggage.

Incognito last played with the Dolphins in 2013. He was suspended the final eight games of the that season with Miami after being involved in a harassment case of teammate Jonathan Martin. He visited with multiple teams last in 2014, including the Buccaneers and Broncos, but never signed. He had a three-game stint with the Bills in 2009 before playing for the Dolphins.
