Patriots coach Bill Belichick likely will face NFL discipline after grabbing the arm of a replacement official after the Patriots’ 31-30 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night.

Belichick, who was angry with the officials throughout the game, tried to argue with an official who was running off the field following Ravens kicker Justin Tucker’s game-winning field goal. The official shook off Belichick and continued to the locker room.

The game between two of the AFC’s top teams ended in controversy. Tucker’s 27-yard kick soared over the right upright, leaving doubt as to whether it was good.

that was the most bizarre ending to a game I've ever seen.

but I wonder what the punishment will be. Maybe they'll make him wear a tie? oooh that'll really irk him.

According to Mike Reiss, of ESPN Boston, the entire time Bill was trying to ask the refs if they were planning on challenging the field goal, which was quite debatable if it went in until you saw one specific angle. The refs wouldn't even acknowledge his presence, just walking by BB as he yelled to see if they were to challenge the play.

Yes the kick was in, but if you are going to review small plays like "Did Anquan Boldin extend the ball before going out of bounds?", you should fucking review "Did the kicker actually miss the game winning field goal?"

I don't even care that it would have been called good, its the fact that they wouldnt even challenge the call which frustrated most. The amount of bias that they had against the Patriots, or for the Ravens, which ever way you want to look at it, was ridiculous! Like they called a 15 yard pass interference on one play in the 2nd quarter, where Flacco was in a lot of pressure, and threw it 7 yards down the field at some receivers feet. They call PI on Jerod Mayo, who isn't interfering at all, but most importantly, THE RECEIVER ISN'T EVEN LOOKING AT THE BALL! He's looking at the sidelines, not at Flacco, so how the fuck can they call a 15 yard Pass Interference call?!?!

Lol. Its the job of the officials in the booth. Not the ones on the field. The booth saw it was good.

Case closed.

exactly. the officials cant review a score that late, the booth does. the booth could've reviewed it just to please the fans/team but they saw the score so its fine.

the refs are doing a horrible job so i no way shape or form want to defend them.

Let me start out by saying I'm not a big fan of the Patriots or Belichick in anyway (see: Broncos fan)

I hope his fine is very small. I understand they can't allow anyone to lay hands on an official... but in that chaos, I completely understand why Bill did what he did. He did not push, grab, or swing at the ref in any forceful or violent manner and was being completely ignored by the officials. IMO if they are going to ignore a coach like that without explaining or reminding him it's up to the booth, then they are not doing their fucking jobs correctly. That was one of the most legitimate cases of frustration I think I've ever seen watching football... the situation deserved much more explanation than "kick is good, and we're out of here folks". Absolute bullshit.

If a player gets a suspension for putting their hands on an official, Belichick should get hit with the same thing

Either way, he made contact with the official. He'll be fined and should be suspended(1 game at the most). Coaches and players should be held to that same standard.
