After taking a week off from practice following a mild concussion, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be ready to go on Sunday when his team hosts the Chargers.
Speaking to the press for the first time since the injury, Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the natural turf at Heinz Field prevented the injury from being worse. "I'm glad we weren't on FieldTurf. That grass - you know, the soft Heinz Field - might've helped a little bit." He later added that he initially felt numbness in his arms while being examined after the hit, saying, "they pricked me with a pin and I couldn't feel it. When you see the doctor look at the trainer with that look, it kind of scares you a little bit."
Roethlisberger was quite effective, completing 31 of 41 passes for 308 yards, in the Steelers' controversial week 11 win over San Diego during the regular season.
