The Denver Post says there is a "better-than-average" chance that Nene will opt out of the final year of his contract.

Nene could opt in and earn $12 million next year as a Nugget. But considering he is coming off a career year and the dearth of big men in the NBA, Nene would be crazy not to test the market. He could probably leverage his way into a long-term deal with the Nuggets after being wooed by other teams like the Rockets.

In all honesty, it's the right move for Nene to make. There are plenty of teams out there that want to pay him and get him into their organization so a bidding war very well could happen which would get him more money. As a Pacers fan, I'd love to see him in blue and gold, and in all honesty, he's the type of guy that Bird would go after. What teams could you guys see being interested in him? And who do you think he ends up with, and for how much?

Thoughts?

Honestly, no I won't because it's good for discussion.

You really think he'll be heading back to Denver? We already know that J.R. Smith is going to be leaving, and there are places that would be a lot more of a fit for him these days. If he wants to win a title, he'll leave, if not, he'll stay. That's the way I'm looking at it right now.

stfu. hes bringing activity with these threads. its helping the forum.

if he opts out that will be two major free agents i can see denver losing. wilson chandler may leave too. this will probably be the end of denvers playoff run.

I've always liked Nene. I'd like him on my team. I'd say that it was 50/50 he would come back to Denver, and after getting knocked out by the Thunder, and guys coming and going makes it more likely he's gone.

Great move by Nene, in my opinion.
He is going to be due a pretty large payday, by if not the Nuggets, another team.
Any team with a center need is going to be drooling at this news.
