In all honesty, it's the right move for Nene to make. There are plenty of teams out there that want to pay him and get him into their organization so a bidding war very well could happen which would get him more money. As a Pacers fan, I'd love to see him in blue and gold, and in all honesty, he's the type of guy that Bird would go after. What teams could you guys see being interested in him? And who do you think he ends up with, and for how much?The Denver Post says there is a "better-than-average" chance that Nene will opt out of the final year of his contract.
Nene could opt in and earn $12 million next year as a Nugget. But considering he is coming off a career year and the dearth of big men in the NBA, Nene would be crazy not to test the market. He could probably leverage his way into a long-term deal with the Nuggets after being wooed by other teams like the Rockets.
