Bucks backup point guard Beno Udrih has picked up the player option on his contract and will return to the team for the 2012-’13 season, general manager John Hammond confirmed Wednesday.
Udrih has a player option worth $7.8 million for next season.
It’s not a bad situation for the Bucks because they have a valuable expiring contract as well as an experienced veteran in Udrih.
The 30-year-old Udrih was acquired by the Bucks in a June 23 trade last year and averaged 5.9 points and 3.8 assists while playing in 59 games.
The eight-year veteran did not play as much as he had the previous season with Sacramento, logging just 1,080 minutes (18.3 per game) after playing a career-best 2,734 minutes (34.6 per game) for the Kings during the 2010-’11 season.
