From sfgate.com
Just got word that Baron Davis has unexpectedly exercised his opt-out clause, foregoing the $17.8 million due him next season, and making him a free agent as of tomorrow. (The Clippers' Elton Brand just did the same). More details to come ASAP, but at the very least, this puts the Warriors' back at the negotiating table with their franchise PG, and perhaps makes a sign-and-trade more likely.

I was the first to know on this site I bet. In fact, I IMed it to adam. :p

Let me get this straight...Baron due to be paid approximately $6 million more than those hacks Steve Nash and Tony Parker, feels he is underpaid. Good luck and good riddance.

I hope we sign his rump azz to a deal where he gets raped or get Brand/Arenas.

That has to be it, or he's an idiot.

Could be the makings of a very interesting off season....but I doubt it.

He just wants a long term contract, I don't think the money is the big issue. He is worried about the length from what I hear.

and i wish he would have told us hes opting out BEFORE our trade exception from the J-Rich trade expired today. But at least that exception money can be used to re-sign ELLIS and BIEDRINS<3

lol we could, but we'd need to give up a lot of youth lol... Doubt Dumars does anything, the draft proved Dumars wasn't commited to getting better.

First Brand opts out now Davis. Hmmm.

Brand is one smart dude, and Davis is from LA. The connection?
Brand knows he's not going to be able to go anywhere else for as much as he opted out for.
Davis has expressed that he would like to go back to LA.

Brand said negotiations were still in the works. EB's a smart dude... so could his real motives be to get Davis to the Clippers? It could also explain the reasoning behind the Clips not re-signing Livingston. (Besides Livingston's injuries)

I hope to god, that Baron goes to Cleveland. I mean the team could put up a good match for Boston. Although I doubt it happens due to salary cap reasons and what Baron wants, it'd be good for Cleveland, and especially Boobie.

C - Big Z
PF - Big Ben
SF - LBJ
SG - Boobie / Wally
PG - B. Diddy
