Ron Artest and Shannon Brown, both of whom agreed to play for the Lakers, each signed their contracts Tuesday night with the team after the moratorium had been lifted.

Artest signed a deal for three years, $18 million, but Artest has the option of extending two more years to the deal for a total of five years and about $33.8 million.

Brown signed the two-year "bi-annual exception" for $4.2 million, with a player option for the second year. He'll earn $1.9 million in the first year of the contract.

Free agents were allowed to sign contracts at 9:01 p.m. PDT Tuesday.

The Lakers took both Brown and Artest to dinner but to separate locations.
Mexi's gonna be happy. lol

Brown was great for the Lakers last year in the limited mintutes he played.
He'll see more time this season because Fish will play less and Brown and Farmar will be playing more.

as for Artest, <3.
just need to go get LO and we can call it a summer.

ARTEST!!!! <3

& damn. I'm sorry I didn't know that players made their careers in Cleveland and play the way they did in Cleveland when they go anywhere else. He's being paid to be a backup, so where's the foul?

The Lakers biggest need right now is the PG position where they want to get younger. So I ask, who were the Lakers supposed to sign? Only PG on the market I would've taken is Sessions, but he's worth a lot more than the BAE.

Brown isn't even a PG lol. He was in his contract year, and if he didn't play at least decent, he knew he wouldn't be in the NBA playing next year. He'll probably do nothing next year.

And all the Laker fans telling me that I'm saying this cause he did it as a Cav is just basically a double standard, since every Laker fan says Kwame Brown sucks when he had a decent season last year.

I'd take that from any big man not playing starters minutes. If he sucks, Shannon Brown is just as bad.

whoa whoa whoa.

shannon > kwame.

kwame brown was just absolutely horrible. every time the crowd tried to get him going, he'd go up and get blocked. it was embarassing.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.. Laker fans judge Kwame on what he did in LA, and if I do the same for Shannon, I get crucified by Laker fans. It's pointless, but whatever.

How so? Kwame is a "starter". Shannon's nothing more then a backup right now which is what he's being paid to be. He was excited to come here to play under PJ and Kobe, and he played well with them. He only has a two-year deal with the second year being a player option, not like we locked the guy up long-term. Usually it's when guys get the big deals is where they do nothing the next year. Didn't want to make the same mistake like they did with Vujacic this time around.

and lmao Kwame was horrible with the Pistons as well. How are you gonna back up a guy that started over half of his games, and barely did <Censored>? He was soooo bad in the Pistons/Cavs series as well. Plenty of rookies, 2nd/3rd year men did/offered a lot more coming off the bench playing just as much or even less minutes then Kwame did.

Kwame got around 5/5 in limited minutes, he started but didn't play close to starter minutes. He was an effective big man, he shot good percentages. He didn't hurt the team so I don't see how he was still terrible.

But continue to throw double standards out there. Don't ever tell me Shannon doesnt suck because of what he did in Cleveland if Kwame Browns sucks.

What the <Censored> are you talking about. I'm not even talking about Kwame that played with the Lakers LMAO. He didn't do <Censored> in his time when he was traded to Memphis, and he barely did anything with the Pistons. I'm not talking about the Shannon with Cleveland, or the Kwame in LA. I'm talking about them recently LOL

How is 5/5 barely anything? Andrew Bynum got 6/4 in limited minutes in the playoffs, he must suck too.

LOL Bynum was a huge mistake yeah I'll admit that. Y'know most of the time I'm with you on the whole hating Lakers fans thing, I hate most Laker fans myself because I'm not just a Laker fan, I'm a NBA fan. I love/hate players on or off the team. This is why I go after some people because usually people associate me with the rest just because I'm a fan of the same team.

BUT the thing with Kwame is, he has never played great at ANY TIME in his career. A first round pick, now he doesn't have that hype to live with, all he's being asked to do now is be a solid big man. He has the potential to AT LEAST be a 10/10 guy, but he just doesn't do that. The guy just straight sucks.

At least for Bynum, he went through a stretch where he showed a lot of potential, a lot more then Kwame ever has, but he hasn't been able to get back into rythym and I'm kind of worried he won't. Ever since he came back with the injury he's not playing with the same kind of aggressiveness he did before getting hurt. *smh*
