The St. Louis Blues announced Wednesday that center Jason Arnott underwent successful surgery to have a cataract removed from his right eye. The Blues said the procedure was performed by Dr. Tom Clinch, and that Arnott is expected to be sidelined for seven days.

The 36-year-old native of Collingwood, Ont., signed a one-year deal as a free agent with the Blues in July. He split 2010-11 between New Jersey and Washington, finishing with 17 goals and 31 points in 73 games. His final goal of the season was the 400th of his NHL career.

Arnott, picked seventh in the 1993 Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers, won a Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 2000. In 1,172 NHL games, he has 400 goals, 904 points and 1,216 penalty minutes.
