Brian Westbrook went to college in Philly and played pro ball there for eight seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles before leaving for the San Francisco 49ers last offseason. Now the running back wants to return to the Eagles and believes he can help the team, according to the Sacramento Bee.
The paper also notes that the soon-to-be unrestricted free agent says that he talks to Eagles head coach Andy Reid "regularly," which the Bee points out is likely against league rules since Westbrook can't have contact with other teams until a new labor agreement is struck.
Westbrook made $1.5 million with the 49ers last year, but the Bee reports that he "walked around the 49ers facility looking like the unhappiest man in the building" for most of the season. He wasn't used much till Frank Gore broke his hip. He finished the season with 77 carries for 340 yards and four touchdowns.
