f-in douche:

Once Ubaldo Jimenez found the strike zone, the Atlanta Braves had no chance -- and the Colorado Rockies had their first no-hitter.

Jimenez pitched the first no-hitter in the Rockies' 18-year history and the majors' first this season, getting help from a spectacular catch by Dexter Folwer in the seventh inning of a 4-0 win over the Braves on Saturday night."It is every pitcher's dream to be out there for nine innings and throw a no-hitter," Jimenez said.

Firing fastballs that reached 98 mph into the ninth inning, Jimenez pitched the first no-hitter since White Sox ace Mark Buehrle tossed a perfect game in a 5-0 victory over Tampa Bay on July 23, 2009.

The San Diego Padres, New York Mets and Tampa Bay Rays are the remaining franchises without a no-hitter.

After walking the leadoff batter in the fifth inning -- his sixth walk -- Jimenez began working exclusively out of the stretch.

"In the fifth inning Bob Apodaca, he just came to me and was like 'You've been throwing good from the stretch, why don't you just give it a try?'" Jimenez said of his pitching coach's advice.

Like I said the Rockies are winning the NL West and Jimenez is a big reason why they will do it.

^no they're not

Ubaldo is dirty though. I wonder if he'll go back to the wind-up to begin his next start?
baseball players are creatures of habit so i think there's a chance he doesnt

Yea they are. They have a better starting rotation, and theres no one on the Dodgers who can fill in what Randy Wolf did.

NL West is such a toss up IMO

Giants are going to compete with that staff even when they're offense calms down, which it will.

Rockies staff is so overhyped. they're just as inconsistent as the Dodgers.

Ubaldo is great, but he's still kind of a wild card out there. even with the no-no, 6 walks.
Kershaw is the same way. First 10 innings of the season, 12 walks.
last night, 7 innings, 9 k's, 2 walks

Jorge De La Rosa is about as much a wild card as you can find in MLB. One game he'll get you 8 k's in 7 innings, next night he'll walk 10 in 4 innings.
Bills is pretty much the same.

so so far really, Ubaldo/DeLaRosa is about even with Bills/CK. im biased though. CK/Bills >

then you get Aaron Cook. He's good
Kuroda is the same way, but so far he's been awesome. and he definitely has the stuff. every once in a while he flirts with history. ugh in 08 if it wasnt for Tex's double in the 8th, he's got a perfecto

Jason Hammell freakin blows.
Padilla does too

and the 5th starters, meh.

offensively, the Dodgers are way superior to the Rockies and have a better bullpen.
remember Hong-Chih Kuo and Ronald Belisario? yeah they're back this week. no more Jeff Weaver in the 7th and 8th

divisoin is up for grabs. i understand the rockies as a popular choice, they're just overhyped right now
