It appears interim coach Alvin Gentry has a very strong chance of remaining the Suns coach next season.
"He's done a really, really good job under some tough circumstances," Suns General Manager Steve Kerr said. "I'm thrilled with the way he is developing our young guys. He's getting them some confidence and improvement. The guys have responded to him, and they're playing hard through adversity."
The Suns are 9-8 since Gentry took over for Porter after the All-Star break and lost Amaré Stoudemire to eye surgery two games later. The Suns have averaged 120.6 points and shot 53.5 percent under Gentry with the next closest teams in those categories at 113.4 points per game (Golden State) and 49.7 percent (Boston).
